  • Married for over 20 years to Jon Huckaby with 4 kids

  • Pulled her kids from public school in 2014 and has been happily homeschooling ever since

  • Born and raised in Indiana, lived in Arizona and Texas, and moved to South Carolina in July 2020

  • Worked as an RN in surgery until quitting to raise her family in 2008

  • Enjoys traveling with her family, watching her kids play PAC sports, home improvement projects, hiking, the beach and Lake Murray

  • Member of Mt. Horeb in Lexington

Laurie Lamb

  • Happily married to her college sweetheart, Jancer.

  • Has been home schooling her five children since 2003.

  • Has a BA in Education from Carson-Newman University (1995) and has completed several masters courses in education.

  • Taught middle school English, Life Science, and Creative Writing at Irmo Middle School before having children.

  • Has written several curricula for children’s church programs and the curriculum for the creative writing class at Irmo Middle School.

  • Has taught at home school co-ops for over 18 years with classes ranging from drama to Government and Economics. to literary analysis.

  • Is the director and founder of Lexington Homeschool Co-op.

  • Loves spending time with her family traveling, going to Carowinds, watching them play soccer and football, and going on dates with her husband.

  • Has enjoyed being a cheer coach for PAC and refereeing soccer.

  • Enjoys serving in the children’s ministry at her church, Radius Rocky Creek.

  • Taught in the public school system for 21 years before joining the team at MHSRC in 2019


Betsy Montgomery

  • BA in Speech Communication, Minor in Graphic Design from Pennsylvania State University.

  • Homeschooled her own 7 children for over 20 years

  • Has taught Language Arts classes for the past 25+ years, and loves being able to share her gift for teaching and her passion for literature and writing with home-educated students in a way that ministers to their parents as well.

  • She has worked as a Member Services Representative for SCAIHS, as an SAT Essay grader for Pearson Educational Measurement Services, as a Starbucks barista, and currently holds a full time position as the Assistant General Manager at Residence Inn by Marriott in addition to teaching English classes.

  • In her leisure time, she enjoys fine dining, playing games and drinking coffee with friends, Bible study, book club, film, travel, and personal fitness. She has an unhealthy obsession with office supplies and plays too many video games on her phone. She covets your prayers!


Katherine Schilling, Assistant Director

    Major: Chemistry

    Minor: Environmental Biology

  • Began Teaching in 2000, helped form MHSRC in 2002

  • Also works as Chemist, SC Department of Health and Environmental Control

  • 2020- MEd in STEM Interdisciplinary Studies, The Citadel


Anthony Myers

  • South Carolina native. Attended Heritage Christian Academy, Ben Lippen Middle School, and then MHSRC for three years, graduating through SCAIHS. 

  • Worked as a youth leader at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. 

  • Matured his personal relationship with Jesus Christ at Midtown Fellowship church in Columbia. 

  • Attended University of South Carolina for a Bachelor’s Science degree in Mathematics. Then a Master’s of Teaching degree in Secondary Education. 

  • Met his wife and married, excited to reach 10 year anniversary this August!

  • Taught maths and engineering at Keenan public high school in Columbia for 2 years. 

  • Followed the Lord’s leading to Georgia and a brand new career in sales, for 3 years. Gained priceless “real-life” experience during this time outside the traditional education system. 

  • God called him back to teaching at an independent non-profit Catholic school for 3 years in Atlanta. The school had a corporate wing dedicated to internships and training in trades. 

  • Returned to SC in 2021 and taught maths at Northside Christian Academy for 2 years. 

  • Inspired in recent months to embark on a journey of research and advocacy for homeschooling and other hybrid education models. Very excited to get creative and innovative with new courses at MHSRC. 

  • Minored in Spanish at USC and attended three mission trips to Mexico.
