World Geography (College Prep with Honors Option)

Course Description: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! Yes, location of all the countries in the world is a key factor when studying World Geography! In this World Geography course, we will take an adventure to each continent exploring all aspects of its countries and their place on the map. By drawing the continents, adding countries one by one, and refreshing their map skills, students will learn how to navigate around the world. We will dive into the cultures, the people, the foods, music, arts, landscape, customs, industry and agriculture of these countries and much more through research, class activities, projects, reading, drawing, and homework assignments.

Credit: 1.0 unit

For Honors, please let me know before the first day of class. There is a $50 additional fee for honors. I will send out information and guidelines regarding what is expected and required.

American Government (College Prep with Honors Option)

In this class, we will use the hands on approach through in class and out of class projects, situational activities, a field trip, guest speaker and more. This will cover the foundation of the American government, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the different branches of government and more. We will also learn about our local government, how is works and the people who are our elected officials! As our foundation of this course, the students will use the Abeka Government textbooks.

In this class, we will use several hands on projects and presentations to help understand our economy and how it functions. We will study the laws of our economy, the law of supply and demand, productive market economy, efficiency in production, how competition is important in our economy, how saving works with our economy, the market and command economies, global economy and our economic future! We will use Abeka Economics bass our class foundation.

This course offers a thorough study of world history from a conservative Christian perspective, beginning with Creation and continuing through Ancient, Middle and Modern history, where we now find ourselves within the Rise of Globalism. The well-regarded Abeka text will guide our studies and provide a springboard for discussion and related activities. Students will be expected to complete outside reading assignments, quizzes and tests on time, while numerous topographical map projects will round out a geography element of the course.
