Progress of Redemption (Bible Class)
Daniel Stevanus, Instructor
*This class counts as a high school Bible elective credit.
Progress of Redemption
This course will take students on a journey throughout the Bible where they will discover God's plan for redemption of the world, revealed through Jesus Christ. During our class time together we will be tracing elements of both unity throughout the different books of the Bible, as well as progress found from Genesis to Revelation.
Our first pass-through will seek to uncover all the things that God is doing in the Bible, and our second pass through will reveal and give language for what God is saying. This course is accompanied by a powerful graphic that students will learn to replicate creatively in order to communicate these truths with others.
Recommended for grades 8th-12th. Please check with your association if you are seeking to have your 8th grader take this class as a high school credit.
This course is adapted for younger students, with permission, from a course at CIU bearing the same name.
Required Materials:
• $15 photocopy fee will be collected with tuition
• Bible
Pre-owned: If your student already has a Bible they use and love, have them use that, whichever translation it is. "The best Bible is a used Bible." - Dr. Joel Williams
New: If you are deciding to use this time to purchase your student a new Bible, I highly recommend any type of journaling or wide-margin Bible where they can write and take notes. And if you are not sure about which translation to buy, I would recommend the NLT as we will be reading longer portions of narrative for homework assignments and this translation is best for that purpose. ESV, NIV, CSB or NASB are also great choices.

Electives on Hiatus
Understanding the Faith
(On Hiatus 2025-2026)
TBD, Instructor
The Bible is the most influential book in the history of the world. It has been printed, in part or in whole, in 2,800 languages. As Christians, we believe that the Bible is God’s Word, and is authoritative to all areas of life. Understanding the Faith is divided between theology and apologetics, and through this course we will look at what the Bible reveals about God, humanity, and life in this world.
What about the critiques and questions of those not of the Christian faith? This course will answer common challenges and objections against Christianity.
The course will provide a solid understanding of the essentials of a Christian worldview, and equip students to defend their faith with courage and compassion.
Textbook/Materials:
Understanding the Faith: A Survey of Christian Apologetics, by Dr. Jeff Myers, ISBN: 978-0781413602
Student Manual ISBN 978-0-936163673 **Optional** Questions and activities from the workbook will be on Schoology for students to complete.
Understanding the Culture
(On Hiatus 2025-2026)
Daniel Stevanus, Instructor
We live in a culture where absolute truth is no longer supported. A world in which an anti-Biblical worldview, in part or in whole, is held by more and more of the population. Knowing what we believe and why is critical in order to engage in the world around us, unashamed and unafraid to defend truth. In this course we will work to understand the culture around us, and the influence that worldview has on it. Students will be led in considering the validity of the Bible and its value to our world. We will learn about the main world-views that influence our world and learn to debate the modern-day controversial topics that this generation faces.
Students will be challenged to think critically and apply logic to defend their own worldview, and to engage culture from a Biblical perspective. They will work through a series of assignments, including but not limited to, traditional studies and essay reflections, oral presentations, debates, and group community projects to cultivate God’s truth here on Earth.
Aside from counting as an elective credit, this course may be accepted as a third Social Studies. Please consult with your homeschool association to determine options for your student.
Recommended for 10th-12th grades, due to the heavy discussion topics.
