CLUBS
Anthony Myers, Instructor
CLUBS might be unlike any class your student has taken in a traditional educational setting. Most classically-instructed courses specially benefit students who are strong in what could be called “book-smarts.” While we certainly celebrate academic prowess, sometimes education communities do a disservice to other “smarts” such as athletic, tactile, artistic, social, self-reflective, energetic, nature-smarts, and more. With this inaugural Clubs course, I hope to provide a learning environment in which every student has many opportunities to engage all these different skills and share their creativity with one another.
The five units of activities are:
~Sports and Outdoors
~Arts and Music
~Chess and Games
~Speech and Etiquette
~Finance and Service
We will likely touch each “Field of Study” multiple times per month through our discussions and explorative activities. The rotating activities will play very well with students who like variety, especially in their 5th class period of the school day.
Recommended for 6th-8th grades.
Requirements: No books required.

This class may be unlike anything your student has taken in a traditional educational setting. Most classically-instructed courses specially benefit students who are strong in what could be called “book-smarts.” While we certainly celebrate academic prowess, sometimes education communities do a disservice to other “smarts” such as tactile, artistic, self-reflective, and more. With this inaugural TREC course, I hope to provide a learning environment where every student has opportunities to engage with some new knowledge in their own special way.
The modern technological world is quite incredible. We may not even reach the end of a school year cycle before new unbelievable inventions or innovations revolutionize our civilization. But cool Technology and Robots are only the T and R in this course. The field of Engineering opens up a vast adventure into architecture and construction, but also digital engineering, like software and graphics design. All the while throughout our journey, we will be exploring exciting potential Career paths, whether these future graduates are bound for colleges, trades, families, or entrepreneurships. The units listed below will not be covered in cumulative linear order. Since many of these fields cross over one another, we will likely be touching each “Unit Concept” multiple times per month through our discussions and explorative activities.
Recommended for 6th-8th grades.
Requirements: Access to the internet and to a computer or tablet. No books required.
Materials Fee: $75, check made payable to Anthony Myers upon registration.
